Suzanne and François are starting a new life far, far away in region. The going away party is this Friday, December 7 at Air de Tango.  If you want to give them a souvenir to take on this new adventure, you can leave a card or a contribution at the admission desk.

Pas parfaits bal December 16 : 

OYÉÉÉ! OYÉÉÉ! The Pas Parfaits and tango community Christmas party is on Sunday, December 16 at the RIALTO! (5723, avenue du Parc)

A unique occasion to celebrate and conclude the season of this project that has many tango communities talk about Montreal around the world. It will also be the occasion to collect the 15th and last image.

And,  you will finally get to enter the big CONTEST ; a chance to win FREE ADMISSION to the participating milongas for a year.

A Tango Competition will take place on January 19th 2013.  This event will be happening within the ballroom cometition of Le Chic de la danse!  There will be an information session at Air de Tango on Friday November 16th at 8:30 with Mylène Pelletier.   You can visit the site of the competition by clicking here.  

Glitter night is the night to put a bit of sparkle in life before the holidays:)  We have discovered an interesting project; amust see if you want magnificient lips for the evening!!  http://www.violentlips.com

Boot Camp: To ALL artists!  For those who would like to become familiar with this art form, this is the moment to plunbge into this world!  A week long intensive of Tango, how about it?

To all Tango afficionados!  The amateur troup is relaunched in a more condensed format that will be from January to June andeing in a show that will be in our beautiful studio. 

End of session bal will be on the 8th of December, it is THE night to celebrate our students!!

Last but not least the most important news  is that of the moving away of our beloved professors Suzanne and François !:((((  

It is sad but we know that they will come and visit us very very often:)  We will be celebrating them for all that they have contributed to us and that Tango community over tha last years.  This will happen on Friday december 7th.  You are all invited to leave a contribution for them, wether it be a card with a nive souvenir, a monetary contribution or anything ales there will be a box at the entry for this effect.

We have the priviledge of receiving Mr. Pierre Monette over the next four weeks, on Thursdays at 7:15pm starting october 18th (this week)

Mr. Monette has written 3 books about Tango and has hosted a radio show during several years.  He had previously refused a return to Tango but I convinced him:) So Tango lovers this is a unique chance to hear him speak of his experience and love of Tango.  He is an exeedingly eloquent and passionate man, I highly recommend!

As time passes some of our evenings have become classic here in the community, Halloween is one of them thanks to the amazing decorations by Marc-André Gauthier (my husband;), chills are a guarantee!  Come in your best costumes and celebrate with us on October 26th, you could win a prize!

A Tango Competition, finally! A project for the entire tanguera community

Two years ago I tried to do a Tango championship here in Montreal because I believed then and now, that having a goal inlife is very stimulating.  Having failed twice I nonetheless continued dreaming…After a long time I figured how to do it, we will organise the compatition with a ballroom competition!  The competition will take place at the Hyatt of Montreal on January 19th and 20th of 2013.

 Since it is important to keep the authenticity of  Argentinean Tango, a group composed of professors from Montreal has contributed to the creation of a syllabus with a specific evaluation criteria.

 A tango competition : Why register?

-For the intense and efficient learning created by having a specific goal;

- For the ambiance, the excitement, the adrenaline and the accomplishement;

- For the sharing of your  passion with dancers from another field;

- To show the beauty, quality and richness of Argentenean tango;

- To have fun…

Buenos Aires evening

Sunday the 18th of Novembre it is again the ‘ Soirée Spéciale Buenos Aires’  (Come and experience a typical Agentine milonga with all its codes, cabaceos and all)  Cliquez ici!!!!

Open House this Friday the 14th from 7pm to 9 pm!  We have an incredible Tango session for you this autumn.  Our classes begin September 17th and you can come try any class in the first week!

Milonga Tango Lounge for the newcomers to tango:)

Starting Friday September 21st at 8h30.  The beginning of the evenings will be dedicated to the integration of the new dancers to the community.  Come, you are all welcome and if you have any questions, Mylène will be there to help you out!

  The art of wearing high heels with Tina Karr

Many women say that they are unable or afraid of wearing heels as high as the Comme il faut’s.  There are ways of training one’s body to permit this!  Come to Tina’s class from Thursday September 20that 7:15 pm to learn how to wear the heels with confidence!

1.   Watching people at the very end of a tango makes me happy. These moments hold the most beautiful smiles.

2.   I am truly in admiration of how women dress and take care of their appearance. Every friday night, I find myself saying several times “You look beautiful” at the women   who have obviously taken pleasure in picking their shoes and their dress for the evening.

3.   Every friday night I feel butterlfies when I start preparing the space for the milonga, lining the tables, inspecting the floor, prepping emergency kits in the bathrooms. I try to come up with a different detail every week.

4.   What I love most about my work is choreography, without a doubt. It is like sculpting, trying to create something meaningful out of a shapeless mass. Funningly enough, working on choreography is important for improvisation skills. It prepares you to improvise.

5.  Pet peeve 1 : Dancers who do. not. point. their. feet.:)

6.   Pet peeve 2  is dancers looking at themselves in the mirror. I cannot say how irksome this is for me. It is bad during the milongas but even worse during a performance. We use mirrors in practice, only.  Dancing is an act of generosity so STOP LOOKING AT YOURSELF.

7.   I know we have long resisted ballroom for several reasons, but I admit having a fascination for these great athletes.  I love to watch it!

8.   Even though I have been performing in public since I was a teenager, I am actually shy and I dont’ like talking in public. This is one more reason why I love tango: no talking!

9.   We often hear that it takes 10,000 hours to master a skill. So if you take lessons with someone who discovered tango two years ago, well you’re missing on thousands of hours of training. I am always saddened to see amateurs trying to make themselves pass as professionals. They short-change the students who trust them. No matter how gifted and hard-working you are, those 10,000 hours are not an option.

10.   My dream for the Tango community is that it will grow much more. Newcomers are responsible for the growth of the community. Their enthusiasm and energy is important but they need to do more than just profit from what has been established over 25 years. Share your passion, but contribute.
